Name of Creation: Onward to Victory
This group of items finds its inspiration from the school seal, combined with the concepts of health, ecology, humanities and creativity. The works’ imagery and substance reflect the school’s outlook for development. Situated in the no-periphery wall design of the campus, the items are located in major entry/exit points of school buildings through which they become focal images of the campus.

1.Teaching Excellence ±525 × 350 × 375 cm (H x L x D),800kg,H-shaped steel, zinc coated steel plate, stainless steel, Yilan marble, RC
Teaching Excellence, which is located at the front entrance, follows a design derived from the school’s seal. The letters KS, acronym of the Chinese school name Kaishuan, were adopted to create design variance. The art piece bears the school’s name in English and Chinese and visually resembles a bird with outstretched wings. To some it appears like a dancer holding a silk ribbon, projecting harmonic sense of motion. The name Kaihsuan is often associated with “victory” which is alluded to by the school’s street number: 1. This unified creative concept quite matches the cultural features of Kaishuan Junior High School.

3.Transmission ±180 × 235 × 100 cm (H x L x D). Zinc coated steel plate, stainless steel pipe, reinforced glass, molded copper, acrylic coating, RC, LED lamp
Book with an e is inspired by the school’s specialty—English and information technology. Expressed in the double-e design, this work’s frontal view shows a hand holding a book scroll to symbolize the transformation of information from book to digital. The work bears the school’s name in Chinese and English, blended with local motifs showing Kueishan Island and a white egret. The figure of the egret is done in three-dimension, but fuses into the book as cut silhouette, again alluding to the concept of transforming concrete forms into digital image.
